In 1921 at the Indiana Sate Fair the Bryan Steam Tractor was exhibited for the first time. The Bryan was a three-plough tractor not to be confused with a steam traction engine. Bryan Steam Corporation produced 100 tractors and six automobiles before turning to industrial applications. Bryan Steam Corporation is still producing steam generators for industrial applications.

The tractor rated at 20 horsepower and having a weight of 5500 lb. was powered by a two cylinder double acting engine. The engine was like a Stanley automobile engine except for the use of piston valves. The generator produced steam at 600 PSI and is constructed of 42 1/2 in bent tubes. Each tube was formed from a single 20 ft length.
